If you are ever in Brisbane, make sure you make your way to Eagle Street Pier to George’s Paragon Seafood Restaurant for a fantastic meal in a wonderful setting with fabulous service at a great price.
Lunch time and early dinner-time diners (seated 5.30-6.30) can choose from the half price menu. The menu is extensive and although the specialities are seafood, there are other Greek and Mediterranean dishes to choose from, including lamb. Mains are generally priced around $20. A favourite is the Skandali.
I’ve been to George’s four times now and every time it’s packed, so booking is recommended.
This restaurant is an institution in Brisbane, but there are also branches of it in Sanctuary Cove, Coolangatta and Mount Tambourine.
The success of these restaurants is down to the freshness of produce at sensible prices, but also the service. The wait staff in their bow ties lend a sense of occasion to a meal at George’s without being pretentious. Overall it is a very relaxed place to enjoy good food in a lovely setting, overlooking the river and Storey Bridge.
